Soccer Mom Chic Designer Focus: Tory Burch

Tory Burch (born, June 15, 1966, née Robinson) is an American fashion designer who was born, raised and educated in the Philadelphia metropolitan area. She began a fashion label in February 2004 in New York City. The label was an immediate success and was even endorsed by Oprah Winfrey the following year. The label has opened stores in several large American cities and has lines that are sold in several upscale specialty department stores.

Take a look at her Spring '09 Collection.....

I'd describe her line as polished, everyday wearable, and chic. Burch is best known for her Reva Ballerina Flats that come in every color and skin imaginable. They are super versatile and crazy comfortable. From her tunics to her popular ballet flats, she's definitely a soccer mom staple.

Closet Freak

I've recently picked up on a new hobby.....no it's not art or crocheting.....Y'all know I'm too shallow for that....it's lingerie collecting. My first piece is a vintage Emilio Pucci for Formfit Rogers lace trim nightgown. It inspires me to "get to know myself a little better"!...he, he. Here are some crazy beautiful pieces to get a little freaky in.

Now don't start getting all bent out of shape because the bra doesn't really have cups. This stuff is meant to be scene and not hidden under your clothes. There's more to life than Victoria Secret.

La España

As you all know I recently took un vieja to Spain (you should've paid attention in Spanish I). I had such a fabulous time exploring the local style. There were 3 reoccurring trends that Spain was in abundance of:

1. Harem pants (AKA Hammer pants)
I love these cool free flowing pantalones but the women in Spain wear every single style, variation, and fabric imaginable. I saw jumpsuits with Harem pant bottoms (no!), denim Harem pants (hell no!)...silk, fleece...you name it, they had it! I can't ladies...keep it simple with these styles.

2. Glasses
As I strolled the streets of Barcelona I noticed that most of the women wore glasses. I interviewed a women and asked in my broken Spanglish if it was a local trend. She answered back, "No, we wear them because we really need them!" So apparently they're up on their optometry appointments.

3. Bangs!
I too am a "bang" girl....but seems as though I was amongst the masses while abroad. They wore them heavy and precisely cut. There is nothing worse than a girl who needs her bangs trimmed...or the bang is too skimpy. Don't try these at home!
